Overview of

HIFU (High-intensity focused ultrasound)

in Thailand

A High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound facial (or HIFU facial) is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that is used to treat the effects of facial aging. It is one of the many anti-aging treatments available which aim to deliver results similar to that of facelift procedures, but without surgical intervention.

It works by making use of ultrasound energy to produce heat deep within the skin tissues in order to damage target cells and stimulate collagen production, which is the body’s response to repairing these heat-damaged cells. Collagen is what adds structure to the skin and makes it elastic.

FAQs:

HIFU (High-intensity focused ultrasound)

How long until I see results?
Visible results can be noticed within the first 20 days post-treatment, and will improve over the following weeks.

How long will the results last?
This is a very commonly asked question regarding this treatment, but it’s important to note that how long the results may last varies on a case by case basis. Results typically last up to about six months after just one treatment session but it can be longer, depending on how well you practice proper skin care.

How many treatments will I need?
This varies among patients and will depend on the results you would like to achieve. In fact, many of our patients tend to notice visible improvements after just one treatment session. Although one session can provide long-lasting results, it may be beneficial to attend top-up visits in some cases.

What areas can it be used for?
The HIFU facial can be used to treat loose skin on the cheeks and is also great for treating the effects of aging around the eyes and mouth, where reduced levels of ultrasound energy are used because of the presence of thinner, more sensitive skin. As such, the intensity of the ultrasound energy delivered during the procedure will depend on which areas of the face are being treated.

HIFU facials can also be used to treat sagging skin in the décolletage area, as well as double chins to make your neck appear smoother and firmer.

Is HIFU painful?
Mild discomfort may be experienced during the procedure as the ultrasound energy is being delivered to the treatment areas. Many patients find this tolerable, but this will of course vary among individuals. Regardless, the pain and discomfort that may be felt is temporary and will only be experienced while the procedure is being performed.
