Nd: YAG is an advanced laser technology available that is used for the treatment of a wide range of skin and eye disorders. Nd: YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) is a solid-state laser with neodymium as laser medium that emits an infrared wavelength (1064 nm), while in the Q-switched mode it emits 1064 and 532 nm wavelengths. 1064 nm is beneficial for deeper skin penetration while 523 nm is indicated for superficial treatments.
Laser (light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) is a breakthrough medical technology. The laser concept is to produce a wavelength of high-energy light to penetrate deep into the skin to target specific cells through heat production which destroys these cells.
Multiple types of lasers are available, they differ in the types of elements that produce the light energy, wavelength, and depth of penetration which all determine the laser applications.
Nd: YAG laser releases a high-energy light with a specific wavelength that creates heat and causes destruction of the targeted cells while being safe on the surrounding tissue.
The applications of Nd: YAG includes:
Average Cost
$240
Price Range
$30 to $450

How many laser treatments can I expect?
For vascular lesions, the number of sessions is usually 1-3 sessions. It depends on the size, form of the lesions, and also on the skin type.
For tattoo removal, 5-20 sessions are required. It depends on the color of the ink and how deep it penetrated the tissue. One session every week is the recommended interval.
For hair removal, 2-6 sessions every 4-6 weeks are recommended. It depends on the skin color.
Who is a good candidate for Nd- YAG laser treatment?
Nd- YAG laser treatment is more successful with light-colored skin. It can be used with dark-colored skin but with extreme caution to avoid leukoderma. Pregnancy contraindicates the use of Nd- YAG laser treatment.
