Overview of

Ultherapy Treatment

in Thailand

As we age, the natural collagen production in the skin slows down, causing the skin to appear wrinkled and saggy. There are several techniques to replenish the loss of collagen in the skin. Ultherapy treatment is a proven method of stimulating collagen using ultrasonic sound waves. Due to their deep penetration into the fibro-muscular tissues, ultrasonic sound waves are able to tone, tighten and lift aging skin with a saggy appearance.

Ultherapy treatment is non-invasive and non-surgical; therefore, it is completely safe and does not affect the superficial layer of skin in any way. This technique works on the neck and face using ultrasonographic energy, hitting the deep skin tissue with energy. One can expect the tightening results in just a few weeks as the skin tighten over time, sometimes even right after the procedure.

Pros and cons of

Ultherapy Treatment

Pros

  • Ultherapy has the ability to penetrate and travel deeply through the skin. It reaches the muscle layer to provide tightening effects from within.
  • the process is non-invasive and does not use any injectables that result in extreme changes. Hence, the patient does not have to go through a lengthy recovery time.
  • the treatment does not harm the superficial layer as it works on the deep tissue level.  So, there are no scars or marks to deal with later.
  • the dermatologist is able to detect the location of the inner skin layers with the help of ultrasound. This helps to target the treatment area with high precision.

Cons

  • mild discomfort may occur during the process and may make the skin swell or turn pink. Although the effects are temporary and may pass in about an hour, some patients may feel their skin become more sensitive after the treatment.
  • some people may find the treatment to be expensive. Ultherapy ranges from $600 to $4,500 per treatment, with an average cost of $2,550. Due to such a high cost, some may refrain from getting the procedure done.
  • under normal conditions, there is a considerable waiting time (up to 4 months) before the final results become fully visible. However, some patients may notice a difference immediately after the treatment.
  • non-surgical skin tightening treatment such as Ultherapy is not effective on skin that is already suffering from significant sagging. The ultrasound energy and stimulation of collagen production can only help people with mild to moderate amounts of skin laxity by slowing down the early signs of aging. For serious cases, consult your doctor to assess if you're a suitable candidate for facial plastic surgery.

How it works:

Ultherapy Treatment

The process starts with the use of the Ulthera applicator over the targetted areas on the face and neck. This applicator may be used between ten minutes to two hours, delivering heat energy to the deep tissues. As the heat only impacts the inner layers, there’s no harm over the outer layer of skin.

Ultherapy does not rely on toxic injectables, fillers, or creams to revive the skin. It uses non-invasive ultrasound energy that stimulates collagen and elastin naturally. The process impacts up to three deep layers of the skin, leaving slight trauma in the cells. These cells regenerate to form elastin and collagen due to the skin’s natural healing abilities.

The initial effects of the procedure will make the skin contract. Due to the natural healing of cells, the collagen in the skin will increase, and the skin will look and feel lifted. These results are gradual but stay consistent for up to six months to one year after just one 30-90 minutes session.

One significant benefit of this procedure is that patients go home comfortably without any soreness in the skin.

Preparation before

Ultherapy Treatment

Pre - treatment

Patients do not need to follow any major requirements before the procedure. There’s no need to change your diet or workout schedule before the treatment. Patients have to remove any residual makeup and skincare products prior to the procedure.

Recovery after

Ultherapy Treatment

Post - treatment

The treatment does not have a list of restrictions post-treatments, and patients may resume their usual activities right after the procedure.

The sensation of tingling, light swelling, and discomfort while touching the skin are normal. Also, the flushed appearance will fade after a few hours of treatment.

Some improvement may be noticeable right after the procedure. Normally, drastic improvement in the skin conditions can be expected in the next 3-4 weeks.

The procedure enables the skin to produce collagen over the next 2-3 months after the first sitting. This may continue for up to six months, further improving the skin elasticity. These effects of tightened and lifted skin may last 1-2 years, depending on the patient’s age.

Risks & side effects of

Ultherapy Treatment

Patients will be preempted to anticipate some mild discomfort during the procedure. The process is safe for the skin; however, it may lead to temporary swelling, redness, and minor pain during the treatment.

It’s hard to anticipate the intensity of pain as everyone has different skin and pain tolerance. The good news is that these effects are mostly tolerable and diminish after one to two hours.

FAQs:

Ultherapy Treatment

Is Ultherapy different from other procedures?

Ultherapy uses targeted energy in a non-invasive manner to revive the collagen in the skin. Ultrasound imaging makes it possible to monitor the deep tissue layers and deliver the energy in a precise manner.

Ultherapy is an FDA-cleared procedure with proven results. The process is quick and convenient and only requires 30-90 minutes per sitting. As the process triggers the natural collagen production, the patients can see improvement in the appearance of their skin for up to three to six months.

What does Ultherapy feel like?

The ultrasound energy may cause some discomfort with each burst on the skin. As everyone has different pain tolerance, we suggest taking paracetamol before the therapy to reduce the feeling of tenderness. Besides, we recommend using an anesthetic cream to reduce pain during the process.

How soon can I expect the effects?

You may notice changes in the skin from the first day of the procedure up to the next six months. Your skin may feel lifted and tight right after the Ultherapy treatment. The procedure triggers the new collagen and elastin production in the skin. As a result, the toning and lifting effects will increase in the next two to three months.

How long do Ultherapy effects last?

Depending upon the age, the skin may have long-lasting Ultherapy results even after a year post-procedure. The effects of the renewed elastin and fresh collagen in the treated skin could last for up to one year. As the skin ages naturally, patients are recommended to get Ultherapy treatment again after 12-18 months of the initial procedure to maintain the tight appearance of the skin.
