A butt lift, or gluteoplasty, is often performed to “lift” and tighten the skin on the buttocks to provide a more youthful, aesthetic contour. Any excess fat and skin are eliminated and nearby tissues are shifted into position to produce a more shapely and appealing body curve. Butt lifts may be combined with silicone implants to give a more toned appearance and involves making a discreet incision in the intergluteal fold to place the implant between the muscles. This procedure is different from a Brazilian butt lift where the volume of the buttocks is enhanced using injections composed of the patient’s own fat tissue in order to provide more definition and lift.
