How it works:

CoolSculpting targets and breaks down fat cells with freezing temperatures that do not affect other cells, thus preventing damage to the outer skin and underlying layers of tissue. Your doctor will use a vacuum-like applicator during the procedure which suctions the skin overlapping the fatty tissue in order to cool the fat cells. This numbs the target area, and a cooling sensation will typically be experienced.

It will usually take around an hour for the procedure to be completed, and since no damage is inflicted to the skin or underlying tissue, downtime for recovery is not required. Soreness in the treated areas will be experienced in some cases, however, the sensation is similar to that caused by a slight muscle strain or after a high-intensity workout.
